Sitting Posture

Sitting is an endurance sport. Maintaining this posture requires a small amount of core tension that must last for hours. A good ergonomic chair helps support healthy alignment.

Sitting posture is much more challenging to maintain than standing. The natural alignment of the spine in a standing position is neutral, and it is easier to sustain the muscular energy required to stay upright. It is also easier to shift the weight of the body to avoid muscle fatigue.

Sitting is a different story. Muscles have fewer strategies to avoid fatigue resulting in a greater tendency to fall forward and slump into gravity.

A good ergonomic chair helps support the alignment which is less work for your muscles; however, you have to use the chair properly for it to be helpful.
